Subject: MIDI command-line player, please ?
Well, I've wasting my time looking for a MIDI player all over the net for a
couple of weeks. Now, let see if there is a best solution ...
Anyone knows about a MIDI players working from the command line, running
under MS-DOS, for a ...ROLAND MPU ? (Hells, maybe this don't
belong to this list!) Where can I get it ?
Hardest enough ? No ? If possible, in source code.
As a side effect, let's see if this list is still active ...
(oh, my horrible english. How much words misspelled ? )

PLAYMIDI (Yes, the softare that came with the GUS) can be made to
play through the MPU, with the command line switch "-mpu". Simple
enough, eh?

0 spelling mistakes, several minor gramatical errors. Not too bad.

Subject: techno drum loops
I'm starting to upload some drum loops to hyperreal and of course to epas.
Pointers in my www pages will be there soon too.
Basically, after a discussion on Analog Heaven (a mailing list about
analog synths and drum machines), some people tought that to do drums,
the best way was with an analog beat box, not with a sampler and sequencer.
I believe that some pro beatbox will upload samples to hyperreal, so i
decided to upload some loops made with a sequencer and the gus. You'll
then be able to see for yourself. I'll also put in there one of my top
5 production called "Human Teknology". Powerfull intelligent dance music,
also known as techno (no hype that's what a dj told me!). You'll be able
to hear this if you have mpeg audio playback. If not, check out the
tool section on hyperreal.com.
So, the places to check this week:
archive.epas.utoronto.edu in incoming directory
hyperreal.com in incoming/machines for drum loops,
and hyperreal.com in music/artists/francois_dion/samples for music.
Ciao,
